The book tells of the history of the Trojan War in extracts from the works of 12 ancient writers: the Athenian historian Thucydides, the Greek scholar, historian and grammarian Apollodorus of Athens, the legendary poet Homer, the Greek traveller and geographer Pausanias, the Roman poet Dracontius, the Greek Sophist writer Philostratus of Lemnos (the Elder), the Greek historian Diodorus Siculus, the Christian writer Paulus Orosius, the Roman historian Pompeius Trogus, the Greek man of letters Dictys Cretensis, the Roman poet Virgil and the Roman historian Livy.

The text of the book was printed on a 19th-century German Dingler hand press.
The book contains 26 original illustrations made by the artist Sergei Shvemberger in the woodcut technique, one of the oldest forms of pictorial art.
Natural French leather was used to make the cover for each copy together with one of the original boxwood blocks used to print the illustrations for the book. This device underlines the uniqueness of each of the 25 copies that comprise the entire print-run and excludes any possibility of a repetition.
The book’s title is formed from gilded bronze letters.
The book has a storage case decorated with fabric.
