Yury Kuper

Born in Moscow, USSR in 1940.
  
Graduated from the graphic art faculty of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute in 1963.
  
Became a member of the Artists’ Union in 1967. Emigrated to Israel in 1972, moving to Paris in 1975. Awarded British citizenship in 1983. Now lives and works in France, the USA, UK and Russia. Creates jewellery collections and interior-design projects for France and Russia, as well as books, installations, sculptures and three-dimensional painted works. One of the most successful living Russian artists, having won extensive recognition abroad and held more than 50 solo exhibitions.

His works can be found in some of the world’s major museums, including the Tretyakov Gallery and Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow, the Museum of Modern Art and Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Library of Congress (USA), the National Foundation for Contemporary Art in Paris, the collection of the French Ministry of Culture and the National Gallery in Oslo, as well as in private collections in many countries around the world.
