Bahman Panahi

Born in Iran in 1967.
  
Thanks to his family, Bahman became fascinated with music, painting, theatre and calligraphy from an early age. He is now a calligrapher, musician and teacher.
  
Studied under the great calligraphers Gholam-Hossein Amirkhani, Abdollah Foradi and Yadollah Kaboli, obtaining his master’s certificate from the Institute of Calligraphers of Iran, Graduated from the fine arts faculty of Teheran University before continuing his studies in France at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Valenciennes and the Sorbonne, obtaining a Ph.D. for a thesis on the relationship between calligraphy and music. At the same time, he learnt to play the tar and setar and increased his musical knowledge thanks to such great exponents of Persian classical music as Houshang Zarif, Mohamad Reza Lotfi and Ataolah Zahed Shirazi.
  
He has been active in teaching since 1990: running courses, lecturing, holding seminars and conferences, concerts and exhibitions around the world. Bahman Panahi has lived in Paris since 2002.
