In 2004, while visiting the exhibition “Tonino Guerra’s Alphabet” held in the State Hermitage, Piotr Suspitsyn, the founder of the Rare Books from Saint Petersburg publishing house, came up with the idea of creating a book with the legendary maestro, and they reached agreement on the project in the spring of 2009. Their unanimous choice fell on one of Guerra’s best works – the poem Honey that tells of two brothers who have met in their native village after long years of separation.

Guerra’s brush gives birth to striking visual images where every detail is filled with deep meaning. The maestro takes simple things – rocks, trees, flowers, fruit, fluttering butterflies – and creates the impression of an entire world.
The book is bound in a honey-gold linen fabric produced by the Italian Pascucci factory in the 19th century. The front cover is embellished by a ceramic inset designed by Guerra.
The book has a storage case decorated with fabric.
