ECCLESIASTES
The first edition of the Book of Ecclesiastes brought out by the Rare Books from Saint Petersburg publishing house. One of the most enigmatic and ambiguous books of the biblical canon is adorned by colourful illustrations produced by the artist Yury Lyukshin in a technique combining etching and aquatint, then hand-tinted with watercolour.

Ecclesiastes is a canonical book of the Old Testament, classified as one of the books of wisdom. Its title refers to a man speaking in an assembly, a preacher. Religious tradition ascribes its authorship to King Solomon: “The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.” (Eccl. 1:1)
