The book featured in that exhibition was one more experiment by Piotr Suspitsyn’s publishing house. It had a print-run of ten numbered copies, each signed by the artists and the publisher. The odd-numbered copies were made using leather and seal hide, silver, a copper-gold alloy and rock crystal; the even-numbered ones with cowhide, silver, a copper-gold alloy, ice quartz and rock crystal. The publication contains 48 engravings and 46 leaves with calligraphic text. Five sets of 40 engravings were also printed as a separate signature numbered with Roman numerals.
Four different artists worked on the illustrations for the book using various techniques. Yury Borovitsky (Egil's Saga, mezzotint, Boris Zabirokhin (Saga of Grettir the Strong, dry-point), Mikhail Gavrichkov (Saga of Gunnlaug Serpent-Tongue, etching) and Yury Lyukshin (Njál’s Saga, dry-point). The Sagas about Icelanders are further adorned by the calligraphic texts in Icelandic and Russian made by Yury Nozdrin inspired by 17th-century Eastern Slavonic cursive script.
The texts for the exhibition album were written by Mikhail Piotrovsky, General Director of the State Hermitage, Professor Boris Zharov, head of the Scandinavian Philology Department at Saint Petersburg State University, and Erast Kuznetsov, a member of the Russian Academy of Art Criticism.
